How to organize the pages of a PDF

A scan that came out in the wrong order, two chapters that should swap places, one page upside down and a blank sheet you don’t need. You don’t need four tools for that: organize the pages in one view and download the result.

Organize PDF shows every page as a thumbnail. You move, turn, delete and add pages there, and only when you’re happy does the tool write a new PDF. Your original file is never changed.

How to organize the pages

  1. Open Organize PDF and choose your PDF. One PDF at a time. A PDF with a password asks for it. The pages appear as thumbnails in their current order.
  2. Move pages. On a computer, drag a page to its new place. On a phone or tablet, tap the page and use Move earlier or Move later. Pick several pages to move them together.
  3. Rotate the sideways pages. Pick the pages that are sideways or upside down and press Rotate left or Rotate right. The other pages stay as they are.
  4. Delete or add pages. Pick a page and press Delete to drop it (at least one page has to stay). Blank page inserts an empty page after the picked page, in the same size; with nothing picked it goes at the end. Useful when a chapter has to start on a right-hand page for printing.
  5. Click Organize PDF and download. The file ends in -organized.pdf. Not happy? Start over puts every page back where it was.

Good to know

  • Nothing is turned into a picture. Pages are copied as they are: text stays sharp and selectable, and links, bookmarks and form fields stay too.
  • One PDF at a time. To put pages from several files together, merge them first; the result opens in Organize with one tap under “What next?”.
  • Only deleting? If you just want to drop pages 3 and 7, Delete pages is quicker: type the page numbers and done. The same goes for rotating every page or pulling out a range.
  • Big files. Thumbnails take a moment for a PDF with hundreds of pages; the tool tells you while they load. Wait until they are there before you start moving pages.
Your file isn’t uploaded

Organizing happens in your browser, so your PDF isn’t uploaded to a server. Verify that no PDF is uploaded explains how to check it yourself.

Frequently asked questions

How do I change the order of the pages in a PDF?

Open Organize PDF, add your file, then drag a page to its new place (on a computer) or tap it and use Move earlier or Move later (on a phone). Click Organize PDF to download the result.

Can I rotate only one page?

Yes. Pick that page and press Rotate left or Rotate right. The other pages stay as they are.

Does organizing reduce the quality?

No. The pages are copied as they are, not turned into pictures. Text, links, bookmarks and form fields stay.

Can I organize the pages of several PDFs together?

Organize works on one PDF at a time. Merge the files first; the merged PDF then opens in Organize with one tap.

Is my PDF uploaded to organize it?
