Cut margins off every page, or trim the white edges

Guideline: up to 50 MB works well on most devices; for larger files a computer is more reliable than a phone. Check for yourself that your files aren't uploaded

How to crop the pages of a PDF

    1

    Choose your PDF

Drag it into the tool or click to browse. Your file isn't uploaded: your browser reads it itself.

    2

    Margins or automatic

Type how many millimetres to cut off the top, right, bottom and left, or let the tool trim the white edges of every page. The dashed box in the preview is what stays.

    3

    Download the cropped PDF

Every page keeps its text and quality: only the visible area changes.

    Tips for cropping a PDF

Check every page in the preview

Step through the pages in the preview. With Trim white edges, it also shows how many millimetres are cut from each side of that page.

    Margins with decimals

Margins can have decimals, with a comma or a point (12,5 or 12.5), and an empty field means 0. At least about 3.5 mm of the page has to remain.

    Faint edges count as white

Trim white edges treats anything lighter than about 98% white as empty, so faint grey scan borders are trimmed too. It keeps an extra margin of 5 mm unless you choose another.

    Honest about the limits

Cropping hides the content outside the new page box; it does not remove it from the file. A PDF reader shows only what you kept, but the file keeps its size and a PDF editor could show the hidden part again.

    Questions about cropping a PDF

How do I crop a PDF?

Drop your PDF into the tool above, type the margins to cut off (in millimetres) or choose Trim white edges, check the preview and click Crop pages. The cropped PDF downloads right away.

Can it remove the white margins by itself?

Yes. Choose Trim white edges: every page is looked at separately and cropped to its content, plus a small margin you choose. Blank pages are left as they are.

Is the cut-off part really gone?

The page is cropped the way PDF readers and printers understand it: the page box is made smaller, so every program shows and prints only what you kept. The content outside that box is still in the file, so the file does not get smaller, and a PDF editor could enlarge the page box again. For anything confidential, use a tool that removes content rather than hiding it.

Does the text stay sharp and selectable?

Yes. Nothing is turned into a picture: the pages stay exactly as they were, with their text, links and quality. Only the visible area changes.

What about rotated pages or pages of different sizes?

The margins are taken as you see the page, so "top" is the top in your reader, also for rotated pages. With manual margins, every page gets the same margins cut off; pages of different sizes keep their own size minus those margins.

Can I crop only some pages?

Yes. Type the page numbers in the pages field, for example 1, 3-5. Leave it empty to crop every page.
