Guideline: up to 50 MB works well on most devices; for larger files a computer is more reliable than a phone. Check for yourself that your files aren't uploaded

You selected files of different types (e.g. a PDF and a Word file together). Only files of the same type can be merged — remove the files that don't match the rest. Want them in one PDF anyway? Save the Word or PowerPoint file as a PDF first (in Word or PowerPoint: File › Save As › PDF), then merge all the PDFs.

How to combine PDF files into one

    1

    Choose your files

Add two or more PDFs, or two or more Word or PowerPoint files, and put them in the right order with the arrows.

    2

    Pages copied as they are

Every page goes into the new file unchanged, so nothing is redrawn or recompressed. Each Word file becomes its own section with its own page size, margins and headers; each PowerPoint file keeps its own design.

    3

    Download instantly

Download one combined file. A merged PDF can go straight on to Compress or Pages per sheet without choosing it again.

    Watch it in 10 seconds
A real recording: two PDFs merged in the browser, 0 bytes uploaded.

    Tips for merging PDFs

The first file names the result

The merged file is named after the file at the top of the list, for example report-merged.pdf. Its title and author come from that first file too, so put the main document on top.

Bookmarks, links and forms come along

Each file keeps its own bookmarks, links and form fields. If two files have a form field with the same name, the second one is renamed so both keep their own answer, and the result tells you so.

A file that won't open is named, not lost

If one PDF in a larger batch is damaged or needs a password, the other files are still merged and the result names the one that was left out. Unlock it, or save it again from your PDF reader, and merge again to add it.

    Honest about the limits

Only files of the same type go together in one go: PDFs with PDFs, Word with Word, PowerPoint with PowerPoint. In Word, when two files use a style with the same name, the first file's style is used.

    Questions about merging PDFs

How do I merge PDF files for free?

Drop two or more PDF files into the tool above, put them in the order you want, and click Merge. The combined file is created right in your browser and downloads instantly — no account or upload needed.

Is there a limit to how many PDFs I can merge?

No artificial limit. You can merge as many files as your device's memory can handle — on a regular laptop or phone, dozens of files usually work without a problem. If the files are very large, the tool warns you first. Guideline: up to 50 MB works well on most devices; for larger files a computer is more reliable than a phone.

Can I merge Word or PowerPoint files too?

Yes. Select two or more .docx files to merge them into one Word document, or two or more .pptx files to merge them into one PowerPoint presentation. You can't mix file types in a single merge.

Will merging change the quality of my PDF?

No. Merging just combines the pages as they are — nothing is recompressed or re-rendered, so quality stays exactly the same.

How do I merge PDFs on an iPhone or Android phone?

Open this page in your phone's browser, tap the drop area and choose the files, for example from the Files app or your downloads. Put them in order, tap Merge and then Download.

Can I change the order of the files?

Yes. After adding the files you see them in a list: drag them, or use the up and down arrows, until the order is right. The merged file follows that order.

    Important to know

Conversion to Word or PowerPoint happens automatically. With complex layouts (tables, multiple columns), the order of text may differ from the original — always check the result yourself before using it for an exam, official document, or any other purpose where accuracy matters.
