PDF metadata, seen and wiped before you share.

A PDF often carries your name, the software you used and the dates you worked on it. See it here and remove it, or replace it with what you choose – all in your browser.

    Cleaning metadata…

Everything happens in your browser: your files aren't uploaded, so we don't see them.

How to view and remove PDF metadata

    1

    Choose your PDF

Drag it into the tool or click to browse. You immediately see the title, author, software and dates stored in it.

    2

    Remove or replace

Remove everything, or type the title, author, subject and keywords you want the file to carry instead.

    3

    Download the clean copy

The new PDF is ready on your own device. The pages themselves are untouched.

    Tips for cleaning PDF metadata

    Careful with PDF/A

Cleaning an archive PDF (PDF/A) removes the data that makes it PDF/A, and the tool warns you. Some archives or court portals then refuse the file, so keep the original for them.

Replace keeps what you don't touch

In Replace mode the fields start with the file's current values. A field you leave as it is keeps each file's own value, so several files don't all get the first file's title.

    No new traces

The cleaned copy gets a fresh document ID, but no program name or date of ours is added. Only the information about the file changes; the pages are not touched.

    Honest about the limits

This tool cleans the file's metadata only. Names or details inside the pages themselves (a header, a signature, a comment) stay where they are. A certificate-based digital signature becomes invalid, because the file is written again.

    Questions about PDF metadata

    What is PDF metadata?

Information about the file rather than its pages: title, author, subject, keywords, the program that made it, the creation and modification dates, and often an XMP packet with the same details and more (for example the name of the editing software and its serial number).

    What exactly is removed?

All standard fields (title, author, subject, keywords, creator, producer, dates), every custom field, all XMP metadata (also inside images), private application data and the document ID. The file gets a fresh ID. Only the "Trapped" printing flag stays, as it says nothing about a person.

Does the content of the pages change?

No. Text, images, links, bookmarks and form fields stay exactly as they were. Only the information about the file is removed or replaced.

Can I set a new title and author instead?

Yes. Choose Replace and type a title, author, subject and keywords. Everything else is still removed, so the file carries only what you typed.

Are comments, hidden text and the file name also removed?

No. This tool handles the file's metadata only. Annotations, layers and text on the pages stay. The file name is yours to change when you save it.

Why remove metadata before sharing a PDF?

Metadata can show who made the file, with which program and when, and sometimes a user or company name. Removing it means you don't share those details by accident with a job application, a public document or a client file.

    Important to know

Check the cleaned file before you share it, especially when confidentiality matters. Full terms of use.
