Each file is split the same way

Guideline: up to 50 MB works well on most devices; for larger files a computer is more reliable than a phone. Check for yourself that your files aren't uploaded

e.g. 3, 7 — leave empty to split every page separately

Everything happens in your browser: your files aren't uploaded, so we don't see them.

    How it works

    1

    Choose your files

Drag them into the tool or click to browse. Your files aren't uploaded: your browser reads them itself.

    2

    Processing happens locally

Your browser does the work itself, using open-source libraries such as pdf.js, which also powers Firefox's built-in PDF viewer. No waiting in a server queue.

    3

    Download instantly

The result is ready on your own device. We don't store your files online, and the tools don't send them to anyone else.

Why this is different from many PDF sites

No upload, so no waiting for a server

Many other tools send your file to a server and back. Here, processing starts the moment you choose the file.

    Your documents stay yours

Your PDF isn't uploaded to a server. You don't have to take our word for it: you can check it yourself in your browser.

    No account, no daily limit

Because your own device does the work, there's no reason for an artificial limit to push you toward a paid plan.

    Honest about the limits

Converting to Word, PowerPoint or Excel is automatic and has no text recognition (OCR): scanned pages stay pictures. You can first make a scan searchable with OCR PDF. Compressing mainly shrinks images, so a PDF that is mostly text hardly gets smaller. Always check the result before you send it on.

    Frequently asked questions

Do I need to install anything to use these tools?

No. All twenty-three tools – split, rotate, page numbers, delete or extract pages, watermark, JPG to PDF, PDF to JPG, PDF to Excel, signing, protecting or unlocking with a password, pages per sheet, cropping, metadata, PDF to text, extracting images, organizing pages, filling in, flattening, redacting, comparing and OCR – run entirely in your browser using JavaScript. There's nothing to install and no account to create.

How do I split a PDF for free?

Choose the Split tab, drop one or more PDFs into the tool, and either leave the page field empty to split every page into its own file, or type the page numbers after which to cut (e.g. "3, 7"). Click Split and your files download as a zip.

How do I rotate a PDF?

Choose the Rotate tab, drop one or more PDFs into the tool, pick 90° clockwise, 90° counter-clockwise, or 180°, and click Rotate. The same rotation is applied to every page, or only to the pages you enter.

How do I add page numbers to a PDF?

Choose the Numbers tab, drop one or more PDFs into the tool, pick a number format, and click Add page numbers. By default the number goes at the bottom centre of every page; you can also choose another position, a start number, or to leave the cover page unnumbered.

How do I delete pages from a PDF?

Choose the Delete tab, drop one or more PDFs into the tool, type the page numbers or ranges to remove (e.g. "2, 5-7"), and click Delete pages.

How do I extract pages from a PDF?

Drop your PDF into the tool, type the pages you want (for example "1, 3-5"), choose one new PDF or separate files, and click Extract pages. The new file downloads straight away.

How do I add a watermark to a PDF?

Drop your PDF into the tool, type the watermark text, pick a style (diagonal, horizontal or repeated) and click Add watermark. The watermark is placed on every page.

How do I convert JPG to PDF?

Drop your images into the tool, choose a page size (A4, US Letter or the size of the image) and click Convert to PDF. All images end up in one PDF, one per page, in the order of the list – use the arrows or drag the files to change it.

How do I convert a PDF to JPG?

Drop your PDF into the tool, choose a quality (small, standard or high) and click Convert to JPG. Every page becomes one image; with several pages they download together as one zip.

How do I print several pages on one sheet?

Choose the Per sheet tab, drop your PDF into the tool, pick 2, 4, 6 or 9 pages per sheet (or 3 with lines for notes) and click Make sheets. Handy for printing lecture slides as a hand-out.

How do I crop the pages of a PDF?

Choose the Crop tab, drop your PDF into the tool, type the margins to cut off in millimetres or choose Trim white edges, and click Crop pages. The preview shows what stays.

How do I remove the author and other metadata from a PDF?

Choose the Metadata tab and drop your PDF into the tool: you see the title, author, software and dates right away. Click Remove metadata to get a copy without them, or choose Replace to set your own title and author.

How do I save a PDF as a plain text file?

Choose the Text tab, drop your PDF into the tool and click Save as text. You get a .txt file with the text of every page, with line breaks kept or joined into paragraphs. Scans have no text; the tool says so instead of giving an empty file.

How do I save the pictures in a PDF as separate files?

Choose the Images tab, drop your PDF into the tool, choose JPG or PNG and click Extract images. Every picture is saved as its own file; several pictures come as a zip.

How do I reorder the pages of a PDF?

Choose the Organize tab and add your PDF: a preview of every page appears. Move, rotate or delete pages, add blank pages, and click Organize PDF to download the result.

How do I fill in a PDF form?

Choose the Fill in tab and drop the PDF. Its fields appear as a form: type your answers, tick the boxes and click Save filled PDF. On a PDF without fields, click on the preview where the text should go.

How do I flatten a PDF?

Choose the Flatten tab, drop one or more PDFs and click Flatten PDF. Form fields and comments are drawn into the page the way they look now, so they can no longer be changed. Links stay clickable.

How do I redact a PDF?

Choose the Redact tab, drop the PDF, draw black boxes over what must disappear (or type a word to find it) and click Redact PDF. Every page with a box is redrawn as an image, so the text under the box is really removed.

How do I compare two PDFs?

Choose the Compare tab, drop the old version and then the new one, and click Compare PDFs. Added, removed and replaced words appear page by page. Only the text is compared, not images or layout.

How do I make a scanned PDF searchable?

Choose the OCR tab, drop the scan, check the language and click Make searchable. The recognised text is added as an invisible layer, so you can select and search it, while the pages look the same as before.

General questions about privacy, cost and file size are answered on the homepage. Stuck? See the help page.

    Important to know

Conversion to Word or PowerPoint happens automatically. With complex layouts (tables, multiple columns), the order of text may differ from the original — always check the result yourself before using it for an exam, official document, or any other purpose where accuracy matters.
